Yup, it was me.  I'm not happy with the paragraph's wording, so I'll
be happy to see it changed.  Perl with thread support breaks several
English.pm variables.  AFAIK nothing breaks in the default
configuration.  See:

As I recall, I spent a day or two trying to solve the underlying
problem, and in my frustration I did not have the will to find the
comlete list of vars affected (though I tried for an hour or so).
