• Dealt with incessant requests from grad students for more disk space

• 738 lines of shell

• Policy gave all students x amount to start

• They could get an automatic raise to y upon request

• Further raises required talking to their source of funding

• (Research advisor etc.)

• Often involved moving their work to a research computer

• raisequota would check to see if their quota was x

• If so, it would run a simple C program to raise it to y

• Otherwise it interviewed them

• And it mailed their responses to the admins for further action
