Unless there is specific proof that shows the question not to be stupid, it should be considered stupid. However, if the supplicant proves himself worthy by sufficient groveling or by demonstrating beyond any doubt that he went to great personal expenses to solve the problem himself before bothering us, there is a good chance that he will be helped anyway. > > giving all the data that is needed to answer your question" > Which data is needed to answer his question? All that he has. Russ, really, if he doesn't know what data is needed to answer his question, then he should get himself technical support from one of the commercial support offering. It's not our job to hold everybody's hand. In particular, it is not _my_ job. I'm here to learn about interesting problems that I haven't come across myself and that are not caused by utter and complete idiocy or neglicence from the installer. Over the years, one or two of these happened. Apart from that, this mailing list is a complete failure if you ask me. > That's the problem with saying "RTFM". Unless you know that they have > reasonably had a chance to see the mailing list archive, Russ, stop, you are killing me! They have internet access, and they have a web browser. There is google. And there is www.qmail.org. That's all they need. If that's not enough for one person, that that person is too dense to be considered a sentient life form. End of story. If you want to play with monkeys all your life, so be it. I don't. And particularly not on this mailing list.
