From: Xxxx To: mjd@plover.com Hi I read one of your blog entries: http://blog.plover.com/brain/immortality.html The solution is to do the upload once a month or so, or daily if the person is known to be close to death. You only run the simulation of the upload once they pass away. Note of course that the upload is only uploading of data, but the simulation itself is actually emulating the brain scan in a physics simulation. The idea is that the immortal version is only booted up AFTER the biological version has died. Xxxx From: Mark Jason Dominus Subject: Re: Singularity issues... It appears you have zero logic in your argument, which is fine :) Date: Thu, 18 Nov 2010 11:34:08 -0500 From: Mark Jason Dominus Subject: Re: Singularity issues... To: Xxxx > How is it worthless? Hi Xxxx. I will sell you a wonderful new service that will make you immortal. You pay me $10,000 now, and then after you are dead, I will guarantee your immortality. $10,000 is a small price to pay for immortality, I am sure you will agree, and you won't be able to use the money after you are dead anyway. Now some might say that being dead is not consistent with immortality but I know you are not one of those people, so I look forward to receiving your money. > The idea is that the immortal version is only booted up AFTER the > biological version has died. You are amusing but your argument is lame.
